More Info More About This Product

The Inca Empire, which lasted just two centuries (XIV to XVI AD), with its political dominion and cultural influence extended farther than any other civilization has ever reached in all of South America. Through the territories of what are today five Ibero-American countries, the Incas built an Empire that became rich with the multiple cultural expressions of the conquered regions. In a kind of Andean cosmopolitan, Inca art synthesized the most significant elements common to the cultures of the large region. Although basic in their conception, the works of Inca art are very expressive of an Andean identity, and because of this, their contents still remain valid today. Very briefly, it can be said that there is a balance between highland abstraction and coastal expressionism. Economy in the use of expressive resources, geometric tendencies, and a strong tectonic sense are inherent characteristics of classical Inca art.
